NPI members-only social greets fall in a gorgeous garden
September ended on a green note for NPI members who gathered in the garden of Beth Blistan and James Cabiran to celebrate the arrival of fall. Beth and James' property was recently awarded a gold-level Louisiana Certified Habitat designation with over 75 native plants. Event attendees enjoyed identifying plants from the certification list and noting some particular beauties for their own gardens: the massive clump of doll's daisy (Boltonia diffusa) shown in the photo near the porch was a major crowd pleaser! Hummingbirds, dragonflies, and insect pollinators were also on hand to join the fun.
Thanks to Beth and James for their hospitality and their lovely garden, to Longue Vue House and Gardens for supplying cuttings for a fall bouquet arranged by NPI Board Member Debbie de la Houssaye, to President Tammany Baumgarten for supplying giveaway plants, and to Vice President Dexter Ellis for organizing the event and brewing that mighty tasty beer.
