SUMMARY:BUGS & BLOOMS  MEADOW MORNING AND STEWARDSHIP LUNCH - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday\, November 5
DESCRIPTION:BUGS & BLOOMS\nMEADOW MORNING AND STEWARDSHIP LUNCH\n9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday\, November 5\nEVENTBRITE LINK\nFACEBOOK LINK\nFrom 9 a.m. to noon\, join us in taking care of the native wildflower meadow and rain garden\, and to join artist Courtney Egan to make art. We will cut back dead plants\, collect seeds\, and prepare the site for winter and next spring – this a chance to learn about wildflowers\, meadows\, rain gardens\, green infrastructure\, and ecology. Courtney will be teaching participants how to make sun prints (a kind of cyanotype) using plants from the meadow and rain garden.\nFrom noon to 1\, we will serve lunch and host a discussion on the topic of environmental stewardship. What does it mean to be a steward of the environment? What are different ways in which people and organizations care for land\, water\, and ecosystems in an urban environment like New Orleans\, and what shifts in our landscape management and stewardship practices are necessary in relation to climate change\, flooding\, and subsidence?\nWe will also use this lunch as an opportunity to honor master gardener Jeanette Bell\, as well as the release of a new book featuring Jeanette called American Roots: Lessons and Inspiration from the Designers Reimagining Our Home Gardens.\nAll ages are welcome. In addition to lunch\, there will be giveaways from the New Orleans Mosquito\, Termite\, and Rodent Control Board as well as wildflower meadow field guides from Civic Studio.
